Billie Jean Fredrick

Billie Jean (Betty) was the 5th child of Sammy and Inez Simmons who proceeded her in death. Billie was born on April 24, 1948, in Monroeville, Alabama. Billie was always full of life and was born into a big family, there was always something for her to do in the Simmons household. Billie was always competitive loved playing softball, dancing, and had many friends. She went to Rosenwald Elementary and Union High School where she graduated in 1966, in Monroeville, Alabama. Billie moved to Indianapolis, Indiana right after High School and joined Light of the World Christian Church.

Billie married Arthur Harrison, and the two of them had two children, Arthur, and Stacey Harrison (McCauley). Billie worked as a secretary at Atnea insurance company. Billie transitioned this life August 4th, 2020 leaving behind her two children, 7 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

Billie Jean loved being the boss and calling all the shots. She loved being the center of attention and loved to dress as she would call it “jazzy”. Billie loved dressing in red and matching her accessories so that she was fly from head to toe, this earned her the nickname “Hollywood”.

Billie Jean loved flowers and had the green thumb to make them grow. Billie Jean was very involved with her grandchildren and was delighted to meet all her great grand kids. Billie Jean loved her family, and spending time with them, however, do not come empty handed because she loved to be showered with gifts.

Billie Jean was very outspoken and taught her two children to never take anything from anyone. Bilile Jean was a legend and will be missed dearly. Her spirit will last forever and has been instilled within all her loved ones; there will never be another in this whole world like Billie Jean. You are loved and missed dearly. Rest peacefully, your job here was well done.

A memorial service to honor Billie Jean’s life will be held Friday, August 14, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. in the O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis. Please visit www.ORileyFuneralHome.com to leave an online condolence for Billie Jean’s family.

And the only woman knew who could type 80 wpm on a manual typewriter with very long natural nails before DOS, and computer induction! Proud to have called you Aunt Billie!! Love you forever.   4. That’s how it was when we all got together. Started in our living room at home. Billie loved dancing and playing softball . On visits we’d laughed remembering our youth.
