Brian Robert Morris

January 22, 1971 ~ October 29, 2022
Brian Robert Morris, 51, of Indianapolis, passed away in the early morning hours of October 29, 2022, after a courageous battle with esophageal and lung cancer. Brian was born on January 22, 1971, in Beech Grove, Indiana to Paul and Janice C. (Matthews) Morris; Janice preceded her son in death. On April 6, 2002, Brian wed Jennifer Marie Robertson in St. Jude Catholic Church; Jennifer survives.
Brian attended Holy Name and St. Jude Elementary Schools. He graduated from Roncalli High School in the class of 1989 where he was active in the show choir and ran sound for many school events.
Brian went on to attend IUPUI and then became a police officer through the 89th Indianapolis Police Department recruit class. He also graduated from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Leadership Academy session 2020-10. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Brian was the 2002 Indianapolis Police Department North District Officer of the Year and this year he was named the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Master Detective. Brian served on the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department for 24 and a half years.
A man of faith who loved his parish, Brian was a devoted member of St. Jude Catholic Church where he was active in the Men’s Club and was named the 2022 St. Jude Men’s Club Member of the Year. Brian was the owner of FMX DJs and was the DJ for many events around the city. When not working or at church, Brian loved to spend time with his family. Brian’s wife, two children, and many nieces and nephews were incredibly important to him. I don’t know if it was my first meeting with Brian on I65 when I almost hit him or seeing him later that night to work with him at the police station that made a bigger impression, but he is 100% the best guy. He DJ’ed our wedding and many years of fantasy football where we got to know Jennifer and the kids. We are so blessed to have you in our lives even after we moved 2 hours away. God bless Brian and keep heaven jamin’!!!!

With many prayers and much love from the McGill family. May God rest Brian’s soul and surround you with His love.
Thank you for being such a great younger brother. The memories are far, far to numerous to mention here. We shared a wonderful life with our parents and siblings. One of my fondest memories was just being a family with all of us at the breakfast table after 11:30 mass at St. Jude. Those times are precious. We would play a game sometimes or just have conversations. Not all the time were we getting a lecture about our behaviors in church an hour or so earlier.
Rest now my brother. Feel that sense of peace and relief from your suffering. You’ve carried the ball and fought for over 4 years. We will carry your memories for the rest of our days. GOD’s peace to you.
Thanks for the memories bro.
Until we meet again…

My condolences to the Morris family. Brian was an inspiration to many from his days as a student at St. Jude to his life as an adult. May God grant him peace. Mrs. M.
Brian gave so much of himself to so many. The Stringtown community of The Lord’s Pantry at Anna’s House will forever hold you dear. Our community children will dance a little less this coming year at National Nite Out as our favorite DJ will not be joining us. Thank you for believing in our kids and making such a difference in showing them that policemen can be “cool”.
So sorry to learn about Brian’s passing. We have such fun memories with him from our days at Roncalli. Your family is in our prayers.
