Carol M. Mappes

Carol M. Mappes, 83, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away on March 26, 2021 at Rosegate Village. Carol was born in Indianapolis on November 14, 1937 to the late Hans and Maria Anna (Blasé) Docke.
Carol graduated high school from Arsenal Technical High School. She wed Joseph A. Mappes on June 1, 1957 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. This loving union produced four sons, John, David, Eric, and Scott. Carol’s life’s work was caring for her household and family; she was an extremely devoted mother and wife.
In her spare time, Carol loved to read, spend time with canine companions, spend time with her children, and cook. Carol was a faithful member of St. Jude Catholic Church where she was active in the parish volunteering to complete various tasks and running a bible study. Carol’s gentle personality and kind spirit will be greatly missed by all of those who loved her.
Along with her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Mappes and her brother, Harry Docke.
Survivors include her sons, John Mappes, David (Karin) Mappes, Eric Mappes, and Scott (Beth) Mappes, her seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM in St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Road, Indianapolis. Morning prayers will begin at the funeral home prior to the celebration of Mass on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA; envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Monday.
