  1. Charlie was a wonderful uncle to me and my siblings. He and my mom(his sister) were great friends. We will miss Charlie so much and his great sense of humor. We realize that his family will miss him even more. We send our love and condolences. We pray you find peace in his passing. All of our love Cinnie Stan and Andrew Bass

  2. My condolences to Charlie’s family. I worked at Service Supply with Charlie. I went shooting with Charlie a couple of times when I was able to stay in Indianapolis. I live in Albion, Indiana. I have bought guns from Charlie and traded a couple of times. Charlie was the most accurate shooter I was ever around. He truly had a passion. He was my friend and I will miss him. He is gone but will never be forgotten. Galen Gillenwater

  3. I met Charlie at WalMart when he would come in and print pictures of his models and his animals. He would tell me all about them I always enjoyed it when he came in he reminded me of my grandfather. I have missed seeing his smile and talking to him. He was such a sweet man. Marsha Swails

  4. He spoke of you often too, Marsha, and how you always helped him print the pictures and we’re so friendly.

  5. Charlie and I shared many a meal, and our mutual passion for ‘gourmet dining’, hamburgers, breaded tenderloins, hotdogs, etc: is legendary. Now most of us have an eating quirk or two, but Charlie had some dozzies, and I recently learned of one that tops ‘em all. Just before Thanksgiving I told Charlie that my favorite was stuffing from inside the turkey which has been taking a bad rap lately and has almost been replaced by stove top stuffing. He told me this was his favorite too, so I instantly volunteered to bring him some of Ann’s World Famous In the Bird Stuffing (me, my son and my grandson are the only ones who’ll eat it). He said, “Don’t bother if it has celery in it, I hate celery”. Well I knew he didn’t like celery, but I asked where in world have you ever eaten stuffing that didn’t contain celery? He told me his mother wouldn’t even accommodate this quirk, so I was obviously curious as to how he came to love stuffing? Are you ready for this? He told me that he would meticulously remove the celery from the stuffing and enjoy. That folks is the top eating quirk of my life. Rest well my friend the experiences we shared will be with me forever.

  6. Love the story John and you tell it so well. Charlie was one of a kind who we all will miss. I loved to pick on him when we were working at the pantry Rosie Saylor

  7. I was blessed to have met Charlie who was introduced to me by his son Tony at Indy Arms Co. a few years ago. We immediately became good friends & had much in common; military history, art & firearms. Know that he is missed but I take solace in knowing he is with God.

  8. I have missed chatting with Charlie this past year. We had many good lunches and many shared interests. As you know, Charlie was passionate about his interests. I miss you Charlie.

  9. I miss seeing him in Walmart, I got to know him by helping him with his pictures of his cat, his models of planes, and family. I really miss seeing his smile. I still talk about him and how sweet he was.
