Charmaine M. Field

Charmaine Hoffman Field was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on August 22, 2016, after years of receiving the devoted care of her daughter Colleen. Born June 19, 1933 to Alban and Viola Quick Hoffman in Jackson, Michigan, she joins her loving husband of 54 years, Arthur F. Field, III, in their eternal home. Charmaine attended Little Flower Grade School and graduated from St. Agnes Academy where she had been selected as the school’s Ideal Teen. She worked at Indiana Bell Telephone Co. until she began her career as a mother. Throughout her life, Charmaine was known for her kindnesses, her faith, her volunteer work and support of Right to Life, St. Mary’s Child Center, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Jude Catholic Church and all organizations and schools her children and grandchildren attended. Charmaine had been an active member of the Indianapolis Athletic Club and the Columbia Club. She was also an avid golfer and member of the Country Club of Indianapolis, and the beloved administrative assistant of Arthur F. Field, III CPA firm for over 25 years.
Charmaine was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Hoffman and Jim Wechsler; sister, Marilyn Schneider; son, Kevin Field; and daughter-in-law, Melissa. She is survived by her children, Arthur IV, Karen (David) McDowell, Kathleen (Stephen) Heath, Colleen, Maureen (Timothy) Annee, and Charmaine (James) Cota; eighteen grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; her brother, Ted Miller; and numerous lifetime friends and loving family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227 on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home. The Rosary prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. There will be additional visitation at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 12 noon until prayers at 1 p.m. prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Catholic Church. Online condolences may be shared with the family at orileyfuneralhome.com.

Dear Colleen, I’m thinking about you at this difficult time and hoping you find some peace in your beautiful mother’s life well lived. It was inspiring for me to read about her and your resemblance in spirit and looks is striking. I know you have to be so proud being her daughter. Peace and comfort to your entire family.
