David T. Gaughan

November 19, 1931 ~ March 28, 2021
David T. Gaughan 89, of Indianapolis, passed away March 28, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis to the late Edward and Rose Gaughan.
David was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School, and attended Butler University. He served his country during the Korean War as a member of the US Air Force, and was a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
David was an Envelope salesman for the majority of his life, and in later years was a Bailiff for the Marion County Probate Court.
He always had a great sense of humor, and was devoted to his wife Jeannie and his family. David always loved a good pun and was known as Uncle Bubblehead to his nieces and nephews. He was avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and would spend two weeks of pre-season telling everyone why this was their year-and the last few weeks of the season explaining why it didn’t work out. He had a passion for crossword puzzles and always worked them in pen.
David was preceded in death by his wife Jean of 50 years in 2010 and brother Kevin Gaughan. He is survived by his children Tim Gaughan( Mary Kay), Mary Gaughan (Cathie Fritz), Vince Gaughan, and Alice Miller (Mark); 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren; and brothers Edward Gaughan, Dennis Gaughan, and Tony Gaughan.
Graveside services will be held at Saturday April 10th at 10:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery 435 W. Troy Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46225. O’Riely Funeral Home is serving the family. Visit www.ORileyFuneralHome.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry
Dave and Jeannie were a shining example of love – to each other, their family and their friends. My boys loved playing ball in their yard for Jeannie’s entertainment and Dave’s chagrin – he loved a beautiful yard.
I work with Timothy Gaughan who always spoke very highly of his Father, Daniel. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Eileen Daraska
Praying you find peace and comfort during this difficult time

Condolences to the Gaughan family. Dave was a good man and former west side neighbor . He was a frequent attendee at the Noone Reunion at St. Jude shelter in June . Francis Noone
Condolensces to the Gaughan family. Mr. & Mrs. Gaughan were a part of a solid group of St. Jude parents who I watched for many years while growing up in St. Jude Parish, always saying I hope to have a family like theirs some day. It has been bittersweet these past few years saying good bye to so many of these wonderful, devout members of St. Jude who served as role models for me and many others probably even without knowing they doing so. God rest his soulCh
