Eileen Campbell Parker

Eileen (Campbell) Parker, 97, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2022. Mrs. Parker was born in Stringtown (Fountain Co.), Indiana on October 15, 1924, the oldest child of Robert Glen and Fredia Marie (Jarred) Campbell.

A strong and hardworking young lady, she graduated as valedictorian of her class from Kingman High School and attended Butler University. An interest that was piqued when flying with a barnstormer, Eileen also took flying lessons early in life. She began a successful career with Indiana Bell that spanned 42 years, retiring in 1983 as a switching equipment technician. After a brief stint as a retiree, she returned to work with Deluxe Checking. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church – formerly at Mt. Olive and most recently at Bridgeport United Methodist Church. Eileen was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Telephone Pioneers of America, Ripley and Fountain County Historical Societies, and was an avid genealogy researcher. She and her late husband, Gerald, traveled to 49 states. She will be fondly remembered by her loving family for her strong faith, love, patience, and selflessness. An exceptionally kind lady who led by example will be forever remembered by her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Parker; brother, Robert Campbell; sister, Lila Lubker.

Survivors include her children, Bruce (Dev) Parker, Dale Parker, Carl Parker, Nancy (John) Phillips, and Sharon (Tim) Colbert; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two nephews; one niece.

Visitation will be Friday, October 21, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 1305 Bridgeport Road, Indianapolis, IN 46231. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Ken Loudenback officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridgeport United Methodist Church. O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.   2. I remember back in the 80s Sharon and I would come in from being out all night (typical girl fun) and Eileen would be finishing up cooking Gerald’s breakfast and we would sneak and eat it. Eileen would giggle because Gerald would come in and ask where he breakfast went and she would giggle again and tell him she fixing him some moreߘŠ but I remember her giggle so much♥️ Eileen was such a compassionate and caring woman and forever will be missed!
