Glenda “Darene” Gearlds, 73, of Indianapolis and formerly of Mooresville, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019. Born in Indianapolis on March 25, 1946, Darene was the daughter of the late Glen and Louise (Bean) Rhoton.

Darene grew up in the Mooresville area and was a 1964 graduate of Mooresville High School. She enjoyed working puzzles and travelling to the Smokey Mountains. Most of all, she loved her family and especially enjoyed visiting her extended family in Kentucky.

Survivors include her daughter Andria (Allen Johnson) Scales of Greenwood; and her granddaughter, Melanie (Jacob) Surface of Whiteland; and her aunts, Jessie Southern of Texas, Modella Mattingly of Kentucky, and Genoa Shirley of Kentucky; along with many cousins and extended family.
