Greg got his nickname of Rocky when he was born. He was 10 lbs. plus and one of his uncles called him Rocky; after the boxer Rocky Marciano. Rocky was an avid reader and a history buff. He started taking Sarah to the library every week starting when she was a toddler. They both got a new stack of books every week. He was a devoted father and spent time with Sarah on her homework, science projects, etc. Rocky loved the “Garden of the Gods” in southern Illinois and took Sarah there many times from the time she was little. The friends at my work thought he looked like Tom Selleck.
I will remember all of the good times.

Rocky and I attended St. John’s grade school in the early 60’s. He always seemed to have a touch of mischievousness about him. The nuns kept their radar tuned to his frequency. I’ve lost touch him since those formative years. Sounds like he had a great life. Sorry to hear of his passing. Ken Eaton (Cedar Rapids, IA)
Thank you Ken for your memories!
My heart is breaking, Greg deserved so much more! He was a good man and a hard worker, so intelligent, but never appreciated at USPS. The birth of his daughter changed his life for the better. I had not talked to Greg since he injured his back at work many years ago. I know that I know that I know he loved you, all of his family madly. He will live forever in our hearts, our minds and good memories. May the God of all comfort wrap His loving presence around you all. ߘ°ߘͰߒ
Becky is the 925 Vigo address still a working address for your precious Mom?
I tried to add these photos to my earlier tribute. St. John’s grade school. Vincennes Ken Eaton
Thanks for the pictures, Ken!
Mom’s address is Colonial Assisted Living, 1622 S. Hart Street Road, Vincennes 47591. I bought Mom’s house at 925 Vigo. I’ve been retired 2 years. I have a lot of good memories of Rocky and you.
When Rocky was in grade school he had a white german shepherd, named Duchess. One winter our older brother, Charlie, and his friends were throwing snowballs at Rocky in the alley behind our house. Duchess jumped the fence and chased after Charlie and his friends. As kids we ran around barefooted all the time. Rocky got a deep cut on the bottom of his foot and had to have stitches. When he got back home he wanted to go out play and Mom said “no, you have stitches in your foot”. Rocky took the stitches our of his foot. He fell our of Kaiser’s tree one day when it was raining and broke both of his arms.
I am so sorry to hear of the death of Greg. The passing away of a loved one is always with much sorrow. May we have faith and confidence in the Bible’s promise of a time when pain, sickness and death are a thing of the past (Revelation 21:3, 4). My condolences are with the family at this difficult time.
