A Memory My favorite memory of Courtney is a time when she and my daughter Rebecca went above and beyond with shaving cream. They were born within a couple of months of each other and were both funny blonde girls living in homes around the corner from one another. It was fun to see them together and they spent a good deal of time just being kids in the neighborhood. One day they were at loose ends and I got out an old can of shaving cream for them to make designs on our kitchen table with the foam. They were old enough to stay by themselves for a bit, so I ran out for a short errand. I came back a few minutes later and opened the door to a foamy white entryway. They had quickly become bored with the kitchen table and decided to see what would happen if they tried foaming the floor. Eventually they went down the hall and around the corner to the front door, at which point I came in. The sight of all that foam, and the creativity that sparked the expansion from the kitchen table to an entire area struck me as hilariously funny and inventive. It appeared to be a meringue floor. They knew where to find towels to wipe it all up, and I had a clean floor as a result. Bonus! Every now and then I remember and smile about that incident. Sharon Huehls
I remember the first day we met. I came marching in the funeral home and you said, ” Oh you must be Jacob”. I replied with something like, ” you must be the girl they hired.” By the end of the day we were best of friends. Before long I was JaikyJaik and you were CourtCourt a dynamic duo. You will always be a Rock Star to me. May Eternal Light Shine Upon You.
OH Courtney! This is so incredibly sad. I will always remember your love of fine perfumes, makeup and good music. You passionately served the southside families with honor, dignity and respect for so many years. Your biggest accomplishment though was your beautiful daughter – Cecilia… I dont think there was a day that went by that you didn’t share about her and how proud you were of her– from swimming lessons at the Baxter Y, to you getting her ” big girl bed”, and enrolling her at St. Roch- name a few. I recall that huge castle birthday cake — only the best for your Princess!!!! Your my dear are gone too soon from this world. GODSPEED COURT!
This loss hurts. Helen Courtney (HC), thank you for being so cool to me and my daughter, she rooted for you when you beat me racing go karts. Somehow, we always seemed to do fun and off the beaten path things together. Who else could I have gone to a Chris Isaak’s concert with sober and on a whim…no one other than you. I’ll miss you forever. Thank you for everything you did for me and my daughter, we love you.
