James Donald Dinkins, 88, Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016. He gracefully fought a long battle, but knew when it ended, he would be with loved ones gone before. He was led to the Lord by his late son, Phillip. Don was born in Allen County, KY on September 4, 1927, to Charlie B. and Ader Rickman Dinkins. He served honorably in the US Army during WWII. He retired from Link Belt as a drill press operator after working there for 25 years. He married Margaret E. Kennedy on September 3, 1949 in Simpson County, KY. Don was preceded in death by his son, Phillip D. Dinkins, on September 28, 2014; and 3 grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, James D. Dinkins, Jr., Glen D. Dinkins; 6 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 2 p.m. in Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home. Friends are invited to gather at the funeral home to greet family members on Thursday beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery.   2. As a child I always looked forward to our summer trips to see my Grand parents in Ohio. But the high light of the trip was stopping at Aunt Margaret and Uncle Donald house. It wasn’t till I was much older did I realize they were cousins and not my Aunt and Uncle.  My father loved cousin Donales very much. And thought my heart is broken that they are not here with us. I find joy in knowing that they are together in heaven now. I pray for comfort during this time as I know how it feels to lose so when you’re so close to
