On behalf of the Société de Police – IPD Adam & Edward, our condolences to the family and friends of James Edward. Dailey on learning of his stepping away from this earthly life. Jim was honored to serve his country in the united States Army. He was further elated to begin a career as a sworn law enforcement officer (LEO) with the Indianapolis Police Department, in the 33rd IPD Recruit Class on 13 Fep 1963. The class held the record for the largest assembling of black recruits – historically – with 12 Black recruit members. Jim went on to serve in a variety of duty assignments and specialty areas before retiring from active law enforcement service on 31 Jul 1984, holding the rank of IPD Sergeant. To Diane and the family: I and Jim’s fellows wish you all peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts of Jim.. It was written: A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends. This came to be with Jim and I a couple of years back when we last were face to face. I presented Jim a montage image that brought choked back tears of joy to Jim’s eyes. I remain blessed to have had such wonderful mentors through my tenure of service… all of whom I will always relish as such friends I’m desirous of meeting again. At this time I offer this prayer before bidding farewell, – a last time – to Jim: Eternal rest, grant unto James Edward Dailey, Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. Fare thee well ol’ friend!
My sincere sympathy to the Dailey Family.
