John R. Jarred

John R. Jarred, 57, Indianapolis, passed away suddenly February 23, 2017. John was born July 22, 1959, in Danville, Illinois, to the late Charles Walter Jarred and Judith Ann (Kinderman) Jarred, who survives.

John graduated from North Vermillion High School in 1977 and from the mortuary science program at Vincennes University in 1979. A longtime Indianapolis funeral director, John most recently was the owner and operator of J-n-S Funeral Director Services. John loved animals, especially his cats and dogs. Described as the rock in his family, he was very proud of his family history and genealogy. John will be fondly remembered by his loving family and many friends.

Survivors include his mother, Judith Jarred; brother, Jeff Jarred; sisters, Julie Applegate (Rick) and Valerie Downs (Jerry); nieces, Nicole Julian, Taylor Downs, Miranda Julian, Keely Applegate, and Maggie Applegate; nephews, Nathan Applegate (Joan), Brandon Downs and Kyle Julian.

Friends and family will gather on Monday, February 27, 2017, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street (US Hwy 31 South). The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Family friend, Donald Porter, will officiate, and entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.   1. I was so sorry to have just learned of John’s passing. A number of years ago I had worked for John at his mortuary service. I extend my deepest sympathies to his family. He will be greatly missed for many years to come.
