In Loving Memory of Katie Ann (Tapp) Acheampong
August 2, 1986 – October 28, 2023
Katie Ann (Tapp) Acheampong, a radiant soul, departed from us on October 28, 2023, at the age of 37, following a brave and resilient battle against breast cancer. Born in Indianapolis on August 2, 1986, to Phillip and Sherri Tapp, Katie’s luminous spirit touched everyone she encountered.
A graduate of Columbus East High School in 2005, Katie furthered her education at Ivy Tech, culminating in a fulfilling career as a Respiratory Therapist at Franciscan Health. Her dedication to healing and compassion was evident throughout her many years of service.
On June 10, 2016, Katie embraced a lifelong journey with her soulmate, Kofi Acheampong. An adventurer at heart, Katie’s love for the outdoors and zest for exploration led her to embark on captivating journeys, both near and far. Her travels, filled with cultural delights, mirrored her passion for trying new foods and savoring moments of joy.
Katie’s most cherished role was that of a devoted mother to her adored children, Brenya Elizabeth and Asher Nimako. She found immense joy in family gatherings and cherished moments with friends, illuminating every room with her infectious laughter and vibrant spirit.
Survived by her beloved husband, Kofi Acheampong, and their cherished children, Brenya Elizabeth and Asher Nimako, Katie leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is also survived by her parents, Phillip and Sherri Tapp, and her sisters, Lindsay Mitchell and Kelli Nelson. Katie’s nieces, Perrey and Molly, and nephews, Reid, Alec, and Bryce, brought her immeasurable joy. She is also remembered fondly by aunts, uncles, and several cousins.
Katie reunites in spirit with her grandparents, Linda and Richard Crist, and Kenneth and Norma Tapp, all of Mooresville, along with her aunt, Cynthia Crist Jennings.
Katie’s Life Celebration® gathering will be Friday, November 3, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made in Katie’s honor to: METAvivor (1783 Forest Drive #184, Annapolis, MD. 21401). Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home.
May her spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts, a testament to a life well-lived.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. I was blessed to have Katie as a respiratory student at Ivy Tech. Katie was so kind and respectful and worked hard to achieve her goal of becoming a respiratory therapist. May she rest in peace.
Katie was very genuine and kind, she always made sure to ask about my kids and life in general every time I saw her . She was a person that you instantly smiled when you saw her because she was always so cheerful. Sending prayers of comfort and strength to her sweet babies, Peter, family and those closest to her.
I worked along side Katie at St Francis. Truly a beautiful soul; she radiated positivity and was a joy to be around. She was the kind of person we all should strive to be. Everyone who knew Katie is truly blessed. Many many prayers for her family ❤️
Katie was beautiful inside and out…so sad this world lost her too soon! I worked with her at St. Francis and as a CCU nurse it was always good to have a RT as dedicated as her by your side when caring for our patients. Holding Peter, their beautiful children, and all who loved her in my thoughts. ❤️
Katie was such a ray of sunshine. It was such an honor to work alongside her for all those years. She was always so witty and always always smiling. I will be praying for Peter, the babies, and all of Katie’s family.
This was a fun evening of friendship❤️ Katie, we will love your kids as if they are ours.

Katie, words is not enough to describe how beautiful you are inside and outside, very loving, always smiling. I always hoping that one day you will bounce back only to hear that you’ve departed this sinful world. May your soul rest in peace. I pray that God will comfort your hubby and families left behind. Your children you left behind will continue to soaring higher & higher in all areas of their lives with long life. Good night sweet soul until we meet to part no more.
