Larry R. Darland, 66, of Indianapolis, passed on to Heaven on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. He was born to the late Gale and Ruth Darland and was a 1969 graduate of Manual High School. ~ Have Peace And Comfort Knowing That Larry Has Found Rest ~
Candy, Michael, Shaelyn, Sember & Shauna,
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of such a great man. May the memories of his love, humor and devotion to his family bring you comfort during this difficult time.
Love,
Sarah & Paul Gerrish & family
We love you Candy & kids. I alway enjoyed when Larry stopped by the shop when I was having my hair done, and Bob enjoyed interacting with him too. Whenever we got to spend time with you it was like visiting family. We’re going to miss Larry and his delightful sense of humor. It was always obvious how deeply he loved you, the children, and his babies. God love and comfort all of you.
Oh my gosh, Candy! I just heard of Larry’s passing yesterday and am still in shock. I completely agree with others who have stated the joys experienced when Larry visited with your customers in the shop. He was always such a ‘cut-up’. Dearly loved, much enjoyed and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. My heart aches for you and the family. Even though it’s been awhile since I’ve seen all of you, I have fond memories of the years spent with you in your early days of starting your shop – yes, way back on Elbert Street. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Your deep faith in our God will sustain you. Lovingly sent – LeVon
My prayers to the Darland family – Candy, Michael, Shaelyn, Sember & Shauna and the grandchildren. I will always remember Larry’s humor when I’d come into The Candy Shoppe. Always a joke, something snarky, called me a barbie doll once, made all manner of jokes and bring out all those sweet little dogs for a visit. Quick to lend a hand, whether it was to jump start my car battery, bring over tables to use for garage sale set up, or whatever help I needed. On behalf of our community, I also thanks you for your 34 years of service at IMPD. May you be at Peace, Larry. — Ruth
Never met Mr. Darland but by the way his daughter Shauna talked about him, he sounded like a very special man who was loved by his family very much!!! My prayers for Shauna and her family during this sad and heartbreaking time.
Thinking of you & your family Candy. You are in my thoughts & prayers. Jan Hoeping Dennin
I want to send my condolences to his wife, Candy, and to Shauna, Jeff and the rest of the family in the loss of their wonderful father. I know he now is in the service of the Lord in his new home in heaven. God Bless you all. Richard Leyda
My deepest condolences to Larry’s family. My father, Jack Harper, considered Larry to be his best friend. After my father’s passing, Larry would text me occasionally with jokes and to check in on me. He will be truly missed! You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Heaven must have needed a Hero…….Candy and the kids we are holding you up in prayer. It won’t be the same not seeing Larry on the mower with the grandkids. Larry was a great neighbor to my parents. I will always be grateful to him for cutting their grass or plowing their driveway when it snowed and they were between contractors. He was always smiling and joking around with all of us. RIP dear friend.
