Linda L. Nichols, 81 passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, in Avon, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and joyful spirit. Born on December 2, 1944, in Muncie, Indiana, Linda’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with deep family ties, devoted service, and a heart full of kindness.
Linda attended Royrton High School, where she began nurturing the qualities that defined her for a lifetime—a faithful and positive spirit combined with a genuine caring nature. Her commitment to helping others blossomed in her cherished career as a home healthcare aid and nursing home aid, where she tenderly cared for many, offering comfort and dignity to those in need.
A proud member of the Southwest Church of the Nazarene, Linda’s faith was a beacon of strength and hope not only to herself but to all who knew her. Her love for family was boundless, especially evident in the joyful laughter she shared with her great-grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews, delighting in moments of playful silliness that brightened their days and hers alike. Shopping was one of her simple pleasures, a time to unwind and embrace the little joys in life.
Linda leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory lovingly in their hearts. Her daughter, Teresa (Paul) Long, and sister, Joyce Colligan, stand alongside her other siblings Michele Guinn, Everette Guinn, Eddie Guinn, and Connie Murphy in mourning her loss yet celebrating her life. She was a cherished grandmother to Stacy (Jerry) Walker, Christina (Nate) Hall – Wilson, and Katheryn (Andrew Simmons) Hall, and a beloved great-grandmother to Jaythan, Aidyn, Logan, Kamdyn, Faith, and Isabelle and her great great grandson Lincoln Walker. Her nephew, Brad (Lisa) Nichols, also holds her memory dear.
Linda’s journey on earth was also marked by the loving bonds she shared with her late husband of 37 years, Kenneth E. Nichols, and her son, Tracy Smart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Katheryn Coats Hunt, and Charles D. Hunt, as well as her father, Elmer Guinn. She also mourns the loss of her brothers Danny Guinn and Jeff Hunt and step-siblings Irving Guinn, Ligge Guinne, and Leona Guinn.
