Mary Beverly Heneghan

Mary Beverly Heneghan passed away September 5, 2022, in the Franciscan Alliance Hospice House, after a lengthy illness. Mary was born in 1944 to the late Walter M. Mercer and Margaret Crabtree Mercer in Memphis Tennessee. She met and married husband Thomas Heneghan in November of 1973. Mary and Thomas call Indianapolis home but enjoyed their time at their former residents of Long Island New York and Marietta Georgia. Mary’s catholic faith, family, and her Irish heritage were extremely important to her.

She was a long-time member SS Francis & Clare Catholic Church in Greenwood. Over the years Mary was involved in numerous groups, committees and organizations, volunteering wherever needed and enjoyed reading, traveling, and crocheting. Her greatest joy came from being around family and friends and was affectionately known as “Uncle Bev” by her nieces and nephews. Mary had several areas of interest in her career path. The one that brought the greatest satisfaction was being a teaching assistant to special needs children at Rise Learning Center and in both the Greenwood and Center Grove School districts.

Survivors include her husband, her daughters Tina Henry (husband Christopher) of Powder Springs Georgia, and Laura Stark (husband Robert) of Indianapolis. She is also survived by her grandchildren Patrick Stark (fiancée Naya Ankersen) of Chicago Illinois and Lauren Stark currently attending graduate school in London England.

Calling for Mary will be at SS Francis & Clare Catholic Church on Friday, September 16 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at SS Francis & Clare Catholic Church, 5901 Olive Branch Road, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. 1. Dear Tom, Tina, Laura and family – my heart hurts for you all as you remember Bev and how much she meant to each of you – I am so sorry. I liked her quickly after meeting her. Her smile and laugh were contagious! And, she had such a determined spirit to get up from that Hospice bed. Her love for you was unending as evidenced by the look in her eyes when she talked about her family. I trust you will feel that deep peace and love of God that is so needed right now. By the way, I will always remember Bev and smile every time I see a small bag of powdered sugar donuts! Much love you to all – Dani RN
