Mary Gaughan Allen

Mary Gaughan Allen, 90, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed peacefully in her sleep December 18, 2020. Mary was born September 3, 1930, in Indianapolis, to the late Patrick and Delia (Conway) Gaughan.
She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and attended Marian University. Mary worked at Hartford Insurance and retired in 1995. She was a member of Good Shepherd, St. Jude and St. Catherine Catholic Churches. She was strongly devoted to her faith, family and trips to any casino. A devout Catholic, Mary was very proud of her Irish heritage and will be fondly remembered for her kindness, honesty, and generous spirit. She enjoyed attending any of her family’s sporting events, church festivals, raffles, Indy 500, St. Patrick’s Day events and family Labor Day parties.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Robert Allen and her siblings, Patrick Gaughan and Helen Dale.
Survivors include her children, Dave “Crockett” (Chris) Allen, Robert (Peggy) Allen II, Eileen Allen, and Linda (Greg) Bamrick; sisters, Jane O’Malia and Rose Johnson; grandchildren, Julie (Adam) Burris, Bobby (Mollie) Allen, Jimmy (Kelly) Allen, Bridget (Tim) Rogers, Shea (Lauren) Allen, Elizabeth and Michael Bamrick; six great grandchildren and one on the way.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, 4 to 7 p.m., at the O’Riley Funeral Home. Those attending will be required to wear a mask and practice physical distancing. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2020, in Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with burial following at Calvary Cemetery.
