Michael H. Coffey, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted community member, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, in his beloved hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on June 19, 1957, Mike’s life was a profound testament to dedication, family bonds, and a zest for life that inspired all who knew him.
Michael’s journey began in Indianapolis, where he was born to John and Christina Coffey, whose memories he carried with him throughout his life. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, a period that shaped his resolve and commitment to service. Following his military tenure, Mike embarked on a distinguished career as a UAW Benefit Representative for Rolls-Royce, dedicating 36 years to advocating for workers’ rights and welfare, until his retirement in 2009. His work was marked by a steadfast dedication that earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and the community alike.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike’s heart was deeply intertwined with his love for motorcycles. He possessed a great passion for all makes of motorcycles and found joy in collecting and restoring these mechanical treasures. This passion was not merely a hobby but a reflection of his meticulous nature and his ability to find beauty and value in every detail.
Together with his wife, Donna Coffey, Mike shared not only a life but also a business venture as the proud owners of the Corner Bar on the southside of Indianapolis. Their partnership was a cornerstone of his life, blending friendship, love, and entrepreneurial spirit.
Mike’s most cherished role was that of a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Coffey, and a loving family that brought immeasurable joy to his life. His daughter January (John) Welch held a special place in his heart, as did his stepchildren Nicole Richards, Allison (Phillip) Juskevice, and Daniel (Shelby) Richards II. Michael’s legacy lived on vibrantly through his grandchildren—Nikalus, Colby, Samuel, Mason, Connor, Emma, Lilly, Reid, and Austin—and was further treasured by his great-grandchild, Emersyn. Above all else, Mike took immense pride in his role as a grandfather, a source of his greatest joy and accomplishment.
Throughout his life, Mike demonstrated a love that was earnest and enduring—a love that embraced family, friendship, community, and every adventure he pursued. His passing leaves a void that is deeply felt, yet his spirit endures in the countless lives he touched, and the memories shared among those who loved him.
