Michael J. Goodin, 82, a devoted family man, passionate community servant, and lifelong resident of Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 7, 1943, in Beech Grove, Indiana, Michael lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and service.
A graduate of Secina High School, Michael went on to dedicate many years to serving the public as an Inspector with the Marion County Health Department until his retirement in 2013. His commitment to ensuring the health and safety of his community was unwavering, a reflection of the integrity and dedication that defined his character.
Michael was an active and cherished member of St. Roch Catholic Church, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life. He found joy not only in his spiritual journey but also in the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. An avid golfer, Michael loved the camaraderie and challenge of the game. He and his beloved wife, Pamalia, shared a passion for travel, exploring new places and creating lasting memories together. He also enjoyed visits to the casino and the excitement of the horse track, pursuits that reflected his lively spirit and zest for life.
Michael’s family was the heart of his world. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Pamalia (Moore) Goodin, who stood by his side as a constant source of love and support. Together, they raised two sons, Jeffrey (Krista) Goodin and Christopher Goodin, who carry forward their father’s legacy of kindness and strength. Michael’s extended family includes his siblings Rose Goodin, Nancy Angel, Mary Hockaday, Paul Goodin, and Tom Goodin, who share in the sorrow of his loss. He was also a proud and doting grandfather to Michael, Megan, Abby, Samantha, Bradley, Austin, Oliva, Josh, Stephanie, Chelly, as well as a cherished great-grandfather to several beloved great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched deeply.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Clardie and Cathrine (Feigen) Goodin, and his siblings Kathleen Goodin and Mark Goodin, whose memories he honored throughout his life.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Michael’s life at a visitation on June 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, located at 6107 S East St, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A Mass in honor of Michael will be held on June 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 South Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis, IN 46227. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
