Paul Smith, 73 , was born to Joe and Nancy Smith on January 11th, 1953 in Manchester, Kentucky.  Sadly, Paul passed away on May 3rd, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He met the love of his life, Bessie Smith in 1976 at a White Castle, where Bessie had been working at the time. They were married July 5th, 1977 and stayed together for 49 years. Together, they attended Bridgeport Central Baptist Church. They had many, many cats.

Paul worked as a shipper at Carrier Heating and Cooling for 40 years. He was a giving person. He always made sure the people he loved were taken care of and had what they needed.  His generosity did not stop there anyone he met he made sure they had what they needed.

Paul was extremely proud of his pawn shop, Indy’s Treasures. He owned it for a long time. He enjoyed traveling, often taking his nieces and nephews, on various vacations and trips around the country, Leia was however the most expensive, next to her mother and nephew Vernon.  He was an amazing storyteller.  Wheeling and dealing was his preferred past time.  Usually coming out on top of the deal. He enjoyed watching the Andy Griffith show. Most of all, Paul loved family. He loved his wife, his friends, his siblings, his nieces and nephews all the same (He had a very special baby, though).

  3. As an adult, I didn’t take the time to stop by and say hello. I do have many memories as a kid. (Blackie) the dog. The dog no one could pet. I remember you telling my Dad lord that girl is out there with that dog. We took him home and had that dog for may years. I remember a kind gentle person. Rest Easy uncle Paul I loved you more than you ever knew 💙

  4. My love is there with the family during this time of sadness. Wishing you God’s peace, with my deepest sympathy

  5. Paul was my uncle but he was like a second dad to me. I loved him very much and will miss him. He was the person I called when I needed advice. Anyone that really knew Paul and Bessie was better off for knowing them. Both of them were so good to everyone they came in contact with. He along with Bessie touched everyone lives. The world was a better place because Paul was in it he will be missed by everyone. I really enjoyed all the time I had with him. Love you Uncle Paul!

  6. Paul when I met you and Betsy, it was like God sent a wonderful Angel into my life. You gave so much love as the Bible tells us to love thy neighbor and you did just that.. Betsy is a wonderful person and I’ve watched her be a wonderful wife to you and a great friend to me. Thank you for taking part of your lifetime to spend and share with me. It was such a great adventure and experience one. I won’t forget.. how you were Shirley be missed I know by Betsy, but you have so many others like myself. I love you and will miss you but I feel that you are already in heaven so continue to watch over Betsy, Leah, Ashley and and Rene and everybody else that you are with and Elaine Rafford your Bestie. .
