Ricky L. Steagall

Ricky L. Steagall, 56 of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. Rick was born in Beech Grove on October 15, 1962 to Benjamin F. Steagall, II and Sandra D. (Ward) Kurtz; his mother preceded him in death.

Rick graduated high school from the Indianapolis Baptist Temple and worked as a truck driver in waste management and at Indianapolis Fruit Company. As an avid race fan, he enjoyed spending time at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Rick loved a good scare and worked many seasons at Hanna Haunted Acres. He also enjoyed roller skating. A loving, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Rick’s memory will be forever cherished by his family and a host of friends.

Along with his father, other survivors include his children, Andrew M. (Shannon) Steagall of Indianapolis, Amanda J. Steagall of Indianapolis, Ashley M. Steagall of Indianapolis, and Crystal Clark of Indianapolis; his two brothers, Benjamin Steagall of Greenwood, and Michael (Ruth) Thomason of Sonora, California; and six grandsons, Mason, Parker, Brayden, Carson, Hudson, and Haiden.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Rick L. Steagall from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. The funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.   3. My sincere condolences to Ricks family. I first met Rick aka shitter rick at the track. He got the nickname because at the time, he worked for waste management delivering porta potties around the track. He was kind, loved to talk, but most of all he was funny! The last time I remember seeing him was at Hanna Haunted Acres all dress up full of life. Even though we havent seen each other in years, he often would say hi and comment on pics I posted on facebook May he rest in peace!!

I remember late nights you coming into the diner Ashley and Carson and Amanda coming into each other‘s breakfast well you would have breakfast he would have two eggs over medium half order biscuits and gravy home fries lightly a bowl of grits well I should say a bowl of sugar with a side of grits A large diet Pepsi or diet Mountain Dew and I was always yelling at you because you will go down to the little freezer area and pick out some chocolate cake or chocolate pie and you know you didn’t need it I miss you so much but then again I’m so glad God gained an angel you were known and loved all Over Indianapolis there’s no excuse for anyone used to not know who rick steagall is you da man you always will be now go get em u are the best ever I love u with all my heart and u will live forever in my heart I am praying every day that the hatefulness and beggering will stop now that we can let u be at ease I love u times ten million thousand R.I.P R.L.S.   13. I never met Rick, but I know many who have been affected by the loss his life. My heart aches for all of you, as I know what it’s like to loss a loves one so near and dear.   16. Rick was my father’s roommate at the Altenheim Long Term Care facility. My brothers and I are grateful for Rick’s efforts to make our dad’s transition into the facility a good one. Rick was funny, tolerant, helpful and, as my dad said, “just good people”. It’s hard to believe that he passed. I had hoped to have the opportunity to tell him how much we appreciated his kindness. Our deepest condolences go to his family.
