Ronald E. Clayton

Ronald E. Clayton, 72, Indianapolis, passed away May 6, 2017. Mr. Clayton was born September 7, 1944, in Paoli, to the late Charles and Ina (DeWitt) Clayton.

He worked for more than 40 years for Amtrak as a carman, retiring in 2010. Mr. Clayton enjoyed the outdoors – fishing, camping, and caring for his garden. He will be fondly remembered as a loving, caring, and honorable man who was always interested in helping others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Swisher) Clayton; daughter, Roxanne Clayton; brother, Paul Clayton; sister, Louetta Probst.

Survivors include his sons, Russell (Denise) Clayton and Rick (Liz) Clayton; siblings, Richard Clayton, Linda Buckallew, Jane Stewart, and Edward Wolfington; grandchildren, Anastasia, Isaac, and Sophia.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, 12 pm to 2 pm in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St. (US Hwy. 31 S.), with the funeral service beginning at 2 pm.   1. I only met Russ’ Dad once on his visit with them in Slidell, LA. He seemed to be a pleasant, quiet man and we had a nice conversation albeit short. Wish I could have known him longer. I pray that Russ, Denise and Ana are comforted and find peace during their time of grief.
