Ruth W. Weber

Ruth W. Weber, 91, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020. Ruth was born on April 2, 1929 in Indianapolis to the late Norbert and Irene (Mills) Weber. On June 25, 1949 Ruth wed the love of her life, Harry J. Weber in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church; Harry preceded Ruth in death on March 21, 1998.

Ruth graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Indianapolis. Ruth was a true household manager as Harry worked 6 days a week. She raised her 5 children in a loving household. Harry, Ruth, and their children took many trips including camping at nearly every state park in Indiana, visiting Yellowstone National Park, Niagara Falls, Disney World, The Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, and the Grand Canyon to name a few memorable trips. Ruth loved the beaches; Harry loved the mountains. Ruth was a devoted member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church for many years where she was active in a quilting group, volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul, and cooking for the funeral meals.

Quilting and sewing were her passions in life. She could always be found at her sewing machine working on a project such as clothes for her children, doll clothes, or quilts. Ruth kept a household that everyone always felt welcome in, whether hosting a holiday party or a card game; she was an excellent host. Her family will remember her as a selfless and positive lady who was good humored, even in life’s darkest times. Her grandchildren note that she was one of the funniest people, which taught them to never forget to be daring and adventurous as Ruth was parasailing and riding in a helicopter well into her 70’s. Above all, Ruth was a consummate wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones, but they take faith in knowing that she is reunited with her husband, Harry.

Survivors include her children, Nancy Gholson, Anne (Danny) Graham, Kathy (David) Brodhacker, David (Kimberly) Weber, and Thomas (Laura) Weber; her siblings, Jane Peerson, Claire Mangin, and Paul (Ann) Weber; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. for the visitation at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Road, Indianapolis. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at St. Barnabas at 1:00 P.M. Following the celebration of Mass, Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are to be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Barnabas Catholic Church; envelopes will be provided at the church on Wednesday.
