Sally Agnes McCarthy

Sally Agnes (Crawford) McCarthy, 81, of Greenwood, IN passed away January 10, 2023. She was born February 1, 1941 to the late John and Hazel (George) Crawford in Indianapolis, Indiana. She joins her late husband of 57 years, Robert, in eternal rest and the Lord’s loving embrace. They were married May 4, 1963 at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Their love was very special.

Sally was a proud graduate of Broad Ripple High School, Class of 1959. After 10 years of raising children as a stay at home mom, Sally would go to work for the Indianapolis Industrial Clinic, where she was employed (under several ownership name changes) for 39 years. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, where she was a mentor to those entering the Catholic Church for over 25 years. She also stayed active watching her children and grandchildren play many sports.

Sally loved traveling. She and Bob traveled all 50 states by land, water, air, and rail. They loved their adventures and the many people they met along the way.

Sally was a devout Catholic, a devoted wife, a loving mother, a caring grandmother, a loyal friend, a trusted employee, and a ray of sunshine with a beautiful smile for all she encountered. You, Sally McCarthy, were as tough as they come and you deserve a rest. We love you and will miss you every day.

Sally was preceded in death by her brother, John Crawford. Mom lives on in her surviving children Timothy (Melinda), Michael (Kathy), Christopher (Jane), and Kathleen (Michael) Haberthy. Grandchildren: Keegan (Megan), Shannon, Sean, Addison, Morgen, Kevin, and Meghan. Thank you for loving us.

  1. Sincere Sympathy to the McCarthy Family on the death of their lovely mother Sally. My daughter Dorothy & I met Sally in Florida in 2011 for a Crawford Family re-union. Sadly, Sally’s brother John died 3 weeks after our get -together. Sally’s grandfather, Wilson Crawford emigrated from Ballymena, Northern Ireland in 1900 on the Oceanic ship via Ellis Island to Indianapolis, so the family links are still connected after 123 years. Sally was a beautiful Christian Lady. When I read Kathleen’s tribute to her Mum, the tears were streaming down my face – so emotional!!! Love & prayers from Ballymena. God Bless you all, Nancy & Dorothy Orr.xo

  2. My condolences to the McCarthy family. I knew your mother many years ago when I worked at St Jude and other places on the southside. She always had a beautiful smile to share.

  3. Sally and I go back to her Ralston and Primrose days. I lived on Primrose behind her first home and became the Crawfords’ babysitter.
We attended her wedding and occasionally would meet for lunch through the years.
Strangely enough, I was thinking of her recently.
My sympathies to the entire family.

  4. Kevin and Julie Poore & family has purchased Eco-Friendly Memorial Trees for Sally McCarthy
