Shirley was such a dear person and I am so saddened to hear of her passing. She, Charlie, Tim and Pam were always great advocates for IAS, nature and the birds especially. I have missed seeing all of them at Mary Gray for the last few years, but like many of their friends from IAS will always think of them there. My condolences to all of Shirley’s family, but especially Charlie.
Thinking of you all.

I can only smile when I think of Aunt Shirley and Uncle Charlie. What a team and what an example of commitment. Aunt Shirley brought a special meaning to the word “Aunt”. We will miss you and we will see you soon.
Ted and I met Shirley and Charlie at the Sunday morning birding group at Eagle Creek Park when we moved to Indianapolis 2011. Shirley was a wonderful, happy, and gracious lady. Quick to smile and laugh. Shirley was always so supportive of me during the time I was caregiving for my husband. I appreciated it so much and it was helpful. The world will certainly miss the lovely and kind Shirley.
What a special sweet lady! Shirley was “one-in-a-million” when it came to kindness, goodness and humor. We loved that Shirley and Charlie have always been the model couple and set the bar high for all of us. Seeing them together always brought a smile to our faces. We will all miss Shirley.
Such fond memories I have of playing at Mr and Mrs Keller’s house on Maynard Drive. I was Bernadette’s playmate for years. Mrs Keller would wake us up from sleepovers with a sing song about the birds are chirping. Once at Bernadette’s birthday party we played a game called Pinchy Pinchy and her Mom kept pinching Bernadette’s checks with charcoal covered fingers. She was indeed a special fun loving lady. Rest in peace Mrs Keller and peace be with Mr Keller, Tim, and Bernadette.
Our hearts go out to Charlie and Tim and Bernadette in the loss of one of the dearest women we have ever had the pleasure to know. Always quick with a smile or a laugh, Shirley never met a stranger and frequently caused Charlie to shake his head or roll his eyes as she struck up yet another conversation. Theirs was a truly exceptional relationship. It was heartwarming to be around Shirley and Charlie and be able to SEE that they truly loved one another. What a gift. Their friendship of 30+ years is another gift we treasure. Shirley will be sorely missed.
