Steven J. Emrick

July 15, 1962 ~ August 16, 2023
Steven Emrick, 61, of Arcanum, Ohio passed on August 16th, 2023, on a mild summer day with weather that he often savored by sitting on his patio and smoking a cigarette while drinking his morning coffee.
He filled his time and enjoyed his short 61 years with many adventures that lead to a great deal of stories and memories, though holidays with his family, giving good and sometimes questionable advice preceded by the words “let me help you out”, pacing the house while talking (loudly and cheerfully) on the phone to his friends, and hunting down the Italian sausage stand at The Great Darke County Fair prior to placing a bet (trifecta, boxed) at the harness races were a few of the notable ones.
He leaves behind a son; Tyler (Whitney) Emrick, daughter; Samantha (Matthew) Griffin, five beautiful and bright grandchildren; Kelsey, Gracen, Mason, Zane and Violet, mother; Judith Emrick, brother; Richard (Cindy) Emrick, sister; Cynthia Emrick, and many, many, friends.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, James Leon Emrick.
A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held at a later date.

Selfless, quiet warrior and a man of his word. My Bubby reserved his private life to just a few; and yet, was loved by many.
Stevie and, our Daddy before him, lived life surrounded by family, and friends they considered family.
Likeminded, both men never put on to impress others, nor wavered in their truth.
Relishing life as a Daddy, he always spoke praises of his children and grandchildren. On the telephone you could hear his joy beaming in his voice. It was almost giddy at times and it brought smiles and laughter to my heart and face.
Stevie loved only one woman, and that we all know is “Baby Girl” or sometimes known as, “Hey Babe!”.
In reference to her, he always said, “I’m just going to sit here for as long as it takes.”
I am grateful he was my Bubby, and more importantly, God gave him to us to love and adore.
Missing my Stevie Weavie and life moving forward will be bittersweet filled with fabulous memories.
So sorry for your loss. Praying for family. With sympathy, Carla (Thompson)Otte
I must admit I hadn’t thought about Steve much until I saw the obituary. He,Rick and myself used to be the bicycle gang on Baker st. In Pitsburg. I’m guessing this time was around 69-71. I always had a lot of fun with you two. Many good memories. I am very sorry that Steve had to leave so soon. I hope you find comfort in the fact that he is still with you every day. Keep your eyes and ears open for his signs. Please take care and again thanks, for giving me some great childhood memories.
