  1. Steve was a great neighbor and friend. We so appreciate the times he chauffeured us around. Hope there are chocolate brownies in Heaven. We’ll miss him. Love from Teresa H & Family

  2. I will forever cherish the memories of our time spent together. You were quite the jokester, funny, kind, a good father and brother. Words cannot describe how much I will miss you….i love you my beloved brother…..Joyce

  3. Steve was around our house a lot in the grade school/high school years and he and my brother Dan got into a lot of mischief that I won’t mention. Steve always had a smile on his face and would constantly make us laugh. Rest in peace, Steve. My condolences to your family – I know you will be missed.

  4. My memories of Steve go way back to the old neighborhood where we grew up. He was best friends with my younger brother Dan. Childhood memories include shooting his BB gun in the woods and playing horseshoes in his backyard. Later, after I got out of the army Steve would stop by my parents’ house and he and I would talk philosophy over the kitchen table. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed. My sincere condolences to his family

  5. Rest in Heaven Steve. Our hearts are heavy as we will truly miss you. Our condolences and prayers go out to you and your family…Art & Betty Cantrell

  6. Debbie, please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I have so many wonderful memories of Steve; he was an awesome man!! Jim Henderson

  7. It has been over 40 years since I have seen Steve and I am delighted to see such a great picture of him smiling. That is how I best remember him. Both Steve and I were scolded on the playground on our first day of First grade at St. Roch’s and immediately bonded as friends. We were best friends for most of those St. Roch years and had many adventures (mostly misadventures) together. He was a great guy for sure and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

  8. I was so glad that Steve and I met up again and shared a good conversation. Steve was best man at our wedding. So glad I had the opportuity to know him. I have missed seeing him through the years. But I used to love to hear Rick and Steve’s stories. Rest in Peace, and tell Rick hello from me.

  9. Steve was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. I would find him on his breaks at Eli Lilly and never did I not see a fantastic smile on his face. He loved his family so much and seemed to work constantly to make sure they were provided for, He will be missed by everyone he knew. May he rest in Peace and my deepest sympathy to the family.

  10. So sorry for your loss. I met Steve once in Florida and he was just as nice as Linda, Mike and family. He is at peace and pain free now. God bless all of you

  11. Very sorry to read of Steve’s passing. Deep sympathy to his family. Great guy, fun guy. I’ll never forget his voice. When saw me in the Lab it was,' Worden you old coot what do you want? Look Steve that’s not a very nice way of greeting a fellow worker! Joe I’m sorry, I meant to say ugly old coot! OK that’s better'. Lot of years of this type of exchange. I worked at Lilly for 42 years. Knew a lot of people but Steve was one of the best. Good humor man and always upbeat, He could turn a bad day into a good day and a good day into a better day and he’ll turn a better place into an even better place. Miss him and will never forget him. God Bless him. Pleasure having him around for most of those years.
Joe Worden – Retired with Steve in 08.
