Teresa L. Ford

Teresa L. (Taylor) Ford, 59, Indianapolis, passed away December 6, 2021, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. It is comforting to know that she was welcomed to Heaven by her dad who died last December. Teresa was born March 8, 1962, in Franklin, to the late Tilford and H. Doris (Moore) Taylor, who survives. She married Steve Ford on January 17, 2015, and he survives.

Teresa grew up in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1980. Strong in her faith from an early age, she grew up in Calvary Baptist Church. She worked in the medical field for many years at St. Francis Hospital and OrthoIndy. Most recently, she was president of Dickeys Barbeque in Indianapolis.

Teresa loved the outdoors – she was an accomplished gardener and was especially fond of lilacs. She and Steve enjoyed traveling extensively, creating many happy memories. She stayed active – hiking, biking, and visiting parks. Teresa recently enjoyed the warmer weather that Florida offered in the winter months. Above all, she was strongly devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandma to those most close to her. Teresa will be fondly remembered for her silly and happy demeanor that was known to brighten the lives of all those she touched.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Ford; sons, Sam (Michelle) and Joey (Chondra) Sommers; mother, H. Doris Taylor; sisters, Joann (David) Pluckebaum, Laverne (Jim) Dugan, and Denise (Matt) Rominger; step-children, Eric (Wesley) Ford and Kari (Justin) Price; grandchildren, Crew Ford, Haleigh Charlton, Akaia, Amika, and Amiya Price.

  1. Teresa and I have been friends since my son and Sam were in elementary school. She was a straight shooter and you always knew where you stood with her. She was my rock when we we both had a parent suffering from Alzheimer’s. We had many long talks supporting each other. I will miss that laugh and that smile that could light up a room. Love you, friend. See you on the other side.

  2. I met Teresa later in life even though we grew up in neighboring towns. Me from Franklin and her from Greenwood. Her Grandma Taylor was my Grandpa Hash’s sister. We met through Facebook on another family members page. We talked like two teenage girls right off the bat. We were a like in so many ways. We both worked in healthcare doing billing and coding. We both had two boys. We both have homes in Florida and both built our homes at the same time not far from each other. She was truly like a long lost sister. I’m going to miss her so much.
