Born in: Jersey City, New Jersey
Resided in: Noblesville, Indiana

Betty Ann (Schoenig) McGeehan, 96, longtime Noblesville resident, entered into eternal rest and was reunited with her beloved Patrick, on May 14, 2025.  Mrs. McGeehan was born on September 3, 1928, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Louis J. and Elizabeth (Gribben) Schoenig.  She married Patrick J. McGeehan on October 6, 1951, and he preceded her in death on October 6, 1990.

A graduate of Tuckahoe High School, Betty Ann graduated from Marywood University in 1950.  Before starting her family, she worked as a secretary in Rockefeller Center for Sinclair Oil.  After marrying Pat, the family lived in Blauvelt, New York; South Bend, Indiana; Noblesville, Indiana; Libertyville, Illinois and eventually settled back in Noblesville in 1989.  She did return to work later in life as the credit manager at Jacobsons.  A devout Catholic, Betty Ann was a loyal member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, where she served as a sacristan, extraordinary minister, and on the Altar and Rosary Societies.  She was also a longtime volunteer at Riverview Hospital and past president of the Riverview Hospital Auxiliary.

The consummate hostess, Betty Ann loved to entertain.  Her welcoming spirit, beautiful table settings, imaginative mind, and ability to make everyone feel special were wonderful talents in creating the best holidays and parties for any occasion.  While Christmas was an all-time favorite, Betty Ann also loved to celebrate the Fourth of July on the lake, welcoming friends, friends of friends, and family every year.  She was an avid bridge player, playing with many groups through the years.  Betty Ann will be fondly remembered by her loving family.

She is survived by five children, Peter (Donna) McGeehan, Brian McGeehan, Tricia (Greg) Theisen, Brendan (Holly) McGeehan, and Catharine (Craig) McBride; brother, Richard Schoenig; grandchildren, Sean (Jennifer) and Ryan (Shauna) McGeehan; Kathleen (R.J.) Theisen-Stuart and Patrick Theisen; Mary Beth (Alec) Wolf, Molly, Kiernan, and Conner (Erin) McGeehan; Cameron McBride.

The family would like to thank The Restoracy of Whitestown and Paradigm Hospice Care for their wonderful attention and care for Betty Ann.

Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 East 191st Street, Noblesville.  Family and friends are invited to visitation, following the rosary until 11 a.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.  Inurnment will take place later this year in South Bend, Indiana.  Memorial contributions may be made to Marywood University by visiting marywood.edu/makeagift. 6. Dear Brian and Family, I remember your beautiful Mother while our families were together at Christ the King. God bless you all.

  7. I had the wonderful privilege of taking care of Betty Ann for the last couple years of her wonderful life. I am so grateful to have built bonds with some of her amazing children as well. Peter and Donna are the most patient and gentle souls. Tricia carries the joy her mother brought to a room with her style and personality. Cathy inherited Betty Ann’s spunk, which is arguably one of my favorite of her qualities. I did not spend much time with Brendan and Brian, but your mom spoke words of praise everytime your names came up.
Betty Ann had to be one of the most witty people I’ve ever met. We got eachothers humor, which is rare to find in such different generations. I remember a night I was helping her get ready for bed and she didn’t want to change out of her day clothes. I asked why and her response was, with a serious expression, “you never know who you’ll meet in your dreams.” I of course laughed which brought that infectious grin of hers across her face. I winked at her and mentioned her celebrity crush, Tyrone Powers. She smiled and said “shhh dont tell Pat.”
Her family was everything to her. She was a caretaker through and through. Before meals she’d ask if there was enough for her parents because they needed to eat first. In the mornings she would often ask first thing if someone made sure the kids got on the bus alright. She was always looking out for others.
My very last memory with her, she was on the phone with her oldest son and after talking they would always pray. Even though her short term memory had long faded, Betty Ann knew her prayers and would say them proudly. Something so beautiful and special about that would touch me every time.
There is far to much to say and so many stories to share, however to keep this short, I think the little sticky note above her name on her door (which i have no idea who put it there because it was just always there) sums her up perfectly: The Beautiful Betty Ann. And she was beautiful indeed.

  8. May you Rest in the arms of the Lord🙏🏾
    Ms.BettyAnn.
Although I didn’t get a chance to meet you in person I had the next best thing, which is knowing and being around your amazing daughter Tricia. She is such a warm beautiful soul that I bet she got from you!!
    Rest Well🌹
